Happy Feet Friday

Aren't these the coolest Birkenstocks you've seen in a long time? I happen to think so. And I rarely take them off my feet. I wore them in honor of harvesting my herbs.
Look at the harvest! Basil, oregano, and two kinds of lavendar. You wouldn't believe how yummy Tiny Apartment smells! I won't need air freshener for quite some time. It's been so much fun watching these grow. I'm on the home stretch of Glorious Garden this year. Harvesting is strangely fulfilling. The tomatoes and green peppers are waiting for me to find just the right tomato soup recipe and the squash are getting larger by the day. I look every night when I get home from work - just to see how much they've grown in 24 hours. I can't help it. I love that I grew my own food. I've been eating fried tomatoes for dinner every night for over a week. I've mastered them. And the only things I've bought at the grocery store lately are panko bread crumbs, olive oil and parmesan cheese.
I wouldn't exactly call myself sustainable, but it's been fun!

I love the smell of lavender. And given that I check out our garden daily (and it just has plants and flowers in it), I totally get why you'd be looking at yours every day. Have a great weekend!

Nice feet!

You make me feel terrible for not making use of my yard and "borrowing" veggies from the in-laws.

I completely understand the great satisfaction and joy at growing your own food! I have mints drying at the moment, a little oregano but no basil, unfortunately; up here in the NE, the 6 weeks of rain we had pretty much ruined what I wish HAD been a glorious garden. My tomatoes aren't even ripe yet outside, if that give you an idea...

So glad to hear you've had such delicious success!

I need a new basil plant. I can't remember what happened to the one we used to have. Maybe left it out on the balcony too long into the fall.
Growing green things are wonderful.

Hopefully the authorities won't be informed of your little "garden".
