I Will Not Be Deterred

Our party? A fabulous success. I love the eclectic group of people that gather every time we celebrate something. And it's always a diverse group with wildly entertaining dynamics. The look on Gay Boyfriend's face when six Harleys pulled up and started parking? If I could capture terror in a picture, it would be of his face. He gay-fully (It is TOO a word. I think I said, "You need to tone down the gay! like five times that night.) ran over to me and excitedly shouted, "Who did you INVITE? Who ARE these people?! My PARENTS are here!" To which statement, I flounced off to meet the arrivals. It was glorious.
Some of my dancing friends came, which was awesome. I think people who don't know me very well finally start to understand where I come from and who I am when they see me interact with the people I spend the most time with. It's where I truly feel the most alive and comfortable. There was dancing in the driveway, a fire in the backyard, food in the house and kids crawling all over. It was a perfect, beautiful night. Which reminds me once again of why I chose to crawl out of the closet - because it's FUN!
In other news, I know some of you were not-so-keen on the idea of Burning Man. And I quote Melissa Lion. "Emphasis on the stink." Which made me laugh uproariously. But I can't stop thinking about it. So, I went to The Source of all that is hippee in my life. (See the guy in the white shirt below? He's The Source. I kid you not. He's all free love and pony tail and stink like patchouli and I happen to adore him and his loving wife that puts up with him. Plus, he kind of had a hand in saving my life.) I asked him if he knew anything about it and he said, "Oh darlin'. I know it all." And I excitedly started asking questions and turns out he's wanted to go for years and years and has friends from Reno who have gone for the last 15 years and run theme camps and frankly - all we'd have to do is show up with some clothes (or not - seems that clothing is optional at this event) and some enthusiasm and we'd be welcomed in and assimilated. Um. DUDE! WE ARE SO TOTALLY GOING! 2011. I'm already booked for next year. I know, my social calendar is just brutal. But I figure, if I want to look extra special hot walking around half naked, I've got some work to do, so I'm okay with the two years to prepare sort of thing. And finally? I had both Therapy Tuesday and a trip to the Crazy Doctor today. I am deemed well on my way out of darkness by both of them. I mean, we already KNEW that, but it is nice to hear. Isn't it? Well? Isn't IT?

Of course it's wonderful!
Of course we knew!
It is very wonderful to hear!!
I love parties like that! And I think maybe I could do burning man in 2011??? Something to think about ;)
It is! Confirmation/affirmation is always nice. :)
Isn't it great to get all kinds of people together? Makes for a great party!
You go on and rock your thing!
Whohooo! Still wished I could've come. Glad you had an awesome time.
BTW, I LOOOOOONG to go to Burning Man. I almost went in 2001 but plans fell through. I already have my plan for my interactive art tent and have done tons of research on the whole event. I think it would be an incredible experience. I would probably (I say "probably") keep my clothes on...but you never know.
Yes.
You never know a party is really great until it happens!
The ability to have corners of a world fold over into each other versus hostile collisions speaks to the character who brings them together.
Wish I could have been there. I'm sure I would have blended right in... ;-)
Okay, Burning Man. You call me when you get there and there's no water. I'll come down to the desert and bring you some bottle of h2O and some Dr. Bronner's soap.
Also, take pictures.
I knew a woman who was a fire dancer and went to Burning Man every year.
Also, in Portland, we have fire dancing strippers. Wonderful!
one of the best parts of parties is the new/different people thing. "glorious" is right.
Woohoo Kate!
Ditto Carrster on Burning Man. Ever since I saw it on Malcolm in the Middle I've wanted to go, lol. Can you imagine if we show up in 2011 with the camper & all the kids? Hoot.
