Baby. It's Cold Outside.

I don't have much to say today. Except that the snow is over and now it's just blowing around. Everything's closed and cancelled and I'm all "What?" It's not that bad. Seriously. I suppose it's bad out in the country. But lucky for me, I live four blocks from my work. But it's forty below. I suppose that's a problem. Sigh. And to think, just yesterday I was perusing employment opportunites in Grand Marais, MN.

Santa brought me a new camera for Christmas, and I tried and tried to get a picture of the way the snow swirls off the drifts like smoke in the wind, but it was early and dark and well, I'm just not that good of a photographer yet. I'll try again tonight.
*Update. Look! That's snow blowing around! It's amazing and it's beautiful! The picture doesn't show how the ice crystals in it sparkle in the sunshine. I know, my love of this kind of thing is sick and twisted in it's own way, but it's gorgeous.

It's apparently snowing in the MS town I just left today. And I'm in CA with 47 degree weather. And NO SNOW. I hope you enjoy your snow and take tons of pictures with which to make me jealous!

It's 40 below? HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN IN A FIRST WORLD NATION?

The weather here is doing that awful teasing thing, where it ever so slowly looks and smells more and more like snow, but there's no way to tell if it's really going to happen. It's like that often here. And even when it does snow, it mostly melts within a few days. Too much sunshine. Not that I'm complaining.

it is COLD COLD COLD here too. pooey. So cold I'm resisting running out every 2 hours to plug my meter. I'll probably have an icicle filled parking ticket. Bah!

Wonderful picture of winter in the year 2065. Might have to change my views on global warming.

We got about 3 inches and EVERYTHING is closed today. They even canceled trash pick up. Ha ha!

Unfortunately the stock market is still open so my husband had to go to work......

No snow but the natives here are all "I'm freezing to death" and "we have to close school, think of the children" and it's 30 degrees. Pffft.

Seriously, they have things CLOSED here cuz it's 30. *shakes head*

And K8, I Love You but your snow love confuses me.

TBHITW and I were just talking this morning over breakfast about the weather and we want to know, "How does one live in -40 degree temperatures"? Are your houses super insulated? Do you have a fireplace or wood stove that you keep constantly stoked? Do cars start? Seriously, that is way too cold...

Does it sparkle like a vampire?

HAHAHAHA I know. Shoot me.

At a certain point the snow stops being beautiful. I think that point comes well before it reaches 40 below.

South Dakota. Beautiful & frigid.

Oh, the Midwest.

My Facebook status update yesterday said something like: I think there's glitter in this storm because the snow is sparkling. Seriously, I love it, just like you!

Cool photo! I love snow, the way is glitters, the way it...covers up everything I didn't finish doing in the garden...

I totally get your snow love. I grew up where snow fell in November and was still not melted by early May, so I'm with you. Also, in Montreal, when I was a kid, they almost NEVER canceled school on account of snow.
40 below, on the other hand, is fun for no one: when the snot freezes in 2 seconds, it's just stupid cold.

You've been in South Dakota way too long!

I wish it would only be winter on the days when I wanted it to. Because, it is beautiful.
