Hair, Crazy Pills, Corn Syrup and Teepees.

My new hair.
Malaise, was it you who wanted to see me as a brunette? Well, here ya go. I did it. AND I'm wearing my contacts. Holy Sweet Jesus, I may just be cleaning up or something. And my hairdresser, whom I see every 5 weeks said I looked like I'd lost weight. And well, I have lost about five pounds, but she said no, it's something in my face. So there. She said I must be getting ready to go on the prowl. And I'm all like, "Are you nuts?! I'm taking a break from meeting strangers on the internet." And she was all, "Maybe if you take care of yourself, the Universe will bring him to you." And whereas that's a nice thought and all, whatever. I'm not holding my breath.

In other news, I'd like to tell you about the ubiquity of High Fructose Corn Syrup. In a complete and utter panic at 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday night, I rushed to the pharmacy to get my crazy pills before they closed. On the way there, I realized that I was out of my homemade whole wheat tortillas and at the rate my night was going, I better just pick up some whole wheat bread for my morning pb and j with a banana because I wasn't going to have time to make some more. Well, I grabbed a loaf of what said it was whole wheat bread, my lovely, lovely creamy Jif Peanut Butter and raced off to the pharmacy. And the nice pharmacist who knows about me and my penchant for waiting until the last solitary moment, had my package sitting on the counter for me and away I went. Safe! (For those of you who are fortunate enough to have never been subjected to anti-depressants, if you miss a day, you get weird head zaps, your tounge doesn't want to form words and you get woozy feelings. In general, you want to just lay down and die. Sigh. Maybe when I see the Crazy Doctor in July, we'll talk about me going off them again. I hate it.)

So, I get home and I am making my breakfast and lunch to take to work, and I happen to glance at the contents of said whole wheat bread. Enriched White Flour, High Fructose Corn Syrup... What?! The very second ingredient? Not to mention that the first ingredient is not indeed, whole wheat, but white flour. Sigh. Bad, bad purchase. It even had that spongy disgustingly tofu kinda like texture. It's going to the birds. Poor fat high fructose birdies. I'm going to poison them.

In garden news, did you know I'm going to make a teepee for my green beans to grow on? I'm so excited! We have some old tiki torches that are rotting away and they are perfect for said project. I can't wait to show it to you! Construction starts this weekend.

LOVE the hair color and the cut! Why the goofy face?

Have you tried Ezikiel Bread? YUM.. no flour at all, just whole sprouted grains.. and NO high frutose corn syrup OR salt.

TeePee for your beans out of old Tiki Torches? Genius!

I completely wish they would stop making High Fructose Corn Syrup and go back to using plain sugar.

Your blue eyes POP with your new hair color. And maybe because they're not hiding behind glasses. You're looking great - and clearly haven't lost your goofy side!

Fuck those birds. They deserve the HFCS. They'll be the ones eating your strawberries and tomatoes later on this season.

You can carry off brunette or blond. I hate you. :)

The peanut butter seems to be affecting your tongue.

Lookin' good!

I'm sure you look slimmer, especially as you convert it over to muscle.

Great job!

Man, this has got to be the best post title and photo combination in the history of blogging!

I too vote for Ezekiel bread, especially the cinnamon raisin kind, toasted, with oodles of butter. Good stuff.

I fantasize about getting a bread machine and sweetening the bread with stevia. No corn syrup; no sugar.

Love the hair. And seeing your face! So weird to realize you've never seen a blogger's face, even when you've been reading for awhile!

Very cute hair color & cut. I don't know about you, but that is an excellent way to spruce up winter doldrums.
