My Holy Grail

I found it. The website of all websites.

This woman is reading a book a day for a year. And then she reviews them on her blog. I might have squealed. See? The libraries here in SoDak are awful, awful, awful. There are more books in my hometown library than there are in the three local libraries combined. Their caveat is that they can "order in" any book that I request. It's just I have to have a title and an author and the whole "browsing" factor that I love about the library so much is just - well. It's just not there.

And now? I have a list of about 20 books that I can have them order because "Can't you just order a selection of good novels for me?" Doesn't cut it for the prissyfaced bitch librarian. SQUEAL! I sent the link to Gay Boyfriend and this was his response.

You're not allowed to go to this website anymore, that lady on there looks a lot like you doing things that you would do... I don't approve lol.

Because frankly? He thought I was the only one that would bundle up in a winter coat and take a book outside in the snow. And no. I am not. My actions have been vindicated by this website. And in an attempt to break me of my reading obsession, Gay Boyfriend and Other Boy came downstairs last night to kidnap me and make me watch a movie with them.

It did not work. I'm in heaven. Book heaven.
*I do not by any means advocate playing with guns. I know for a fact that this one does not work and WILL not work even if one wanted it to. I had it looked at as soon as I moved in. Because I do not like guns. So no hate about the gun.

Voracious reader over here, too! The winter stack (the I'll-be-under-a-blanket stack) was pretty big -- or so I thought -- until winter seems to have actually started and I've read five in the last two weeks.

Ruh-Roh, Astro!

Ooh sounds fabulous. I had about 300 books on my excel "to read" list (because I'm a nerd) but then my computer crapped out and it is a file I lost. Which sucks. Oh well, time to start a new list I guess!

I just wish I had more TIME to read!

I am an AVID reader. It is a sickness I do believe, but one I will never be cured of.

Books are a much less harmful addiction than that other stuff.

Thanks for sharing your find. I love books also and I could easily spend much time reading. It is important to experience life directly also, for that is what we are here to do. Glad you have friends that love you enough to drag you ass out now and then.

I work in a pretty big library. All I see are books, books, books and you know what?

It's torture sometimes because I want to read so many things but I can't. I bring stuff home and never get to it, so the opposite situation to yours is just as sucky.

I love browsing! The whole "order in" thing doesn't do it for me. I love a good library.

Yes, I agree with Dingo. I really like to see the book and thumb through it. But I have to say, I downloaded a book to the Kindle app on my iPhone and I was totally in love. I can carry a book with me everywhere in my phone. So cool. Because, of course, I'm a book addict too.

Nice.

Sorry to hear that about your library.

At mine, it's always a blast to wander the stacks looking for stuff to read.

Ours is always busy because it seems to be the central hangout for the town.

But glad to hear you found such a funky website.

I can't imagine not having access to browsing books. I've always lived close to big libraries, and there are a lot of great bookstores, new and used, in Toronto. However, I don't think I could read all day long every day. That might be a little too much of a good thing and then there's the eyestrain...

A book a day? I don't even poop everyday.
