And It Begins...

What does any good garden start with? Power tools! Whee! I kind of love power tools and things like chain saws and jackhammers. But the only one I own is a Dremmel tool, which suits my needs as a single woman quite well.
I bought these containers at the dollar store. But I knew they'd need holes for drainage. So I made holes. Lots of them!
And what goes in so early? Strawberries! I didn't have strawberries last year, but when I saw them at the store, I knew I wanted to try. So for $6, I got ten plants. I made some dirt. Ha! Making dirt. But I've been reading up and dirt likes to have stuff in it that makes the plants happy. So, here's some coffee grounds.
And I found this in the garage, but it's super expensive. So, I just used a portion of it in each planter. (Don't worry, I asked Gay Boyfriend and he said I could use it.)
And I mixed it all with this. Plain ol' dirt from the dollar store. I garden on the cheap. Yes, I do!
Mixed it all up, separated the bundle of strawberry plants, cut the long, long roots off a bit like it said to, watered it up and here they are! Draining quite nicely in the sunshine.
Do you have any idea how it feels to sit on the ground and dig in the dirt? And use my cute little watering can in the sunshine? It feels like babies smell. And like kittens and baby lambs. Like pure unadulterated joy in my tummy.

The stuff I planted a few weeks ago in pete pots are committing suicide, It can't be anything that I've done, right?

You bought dirt at the dollar store? You know that stuff comes free out in the yard, right?

Our peas are in boxes just like those AND Fancyhats drilled those boxes just like you did.

Seriously. We live parallel lives.
