Happy Feet Friday

My bolts are revolting! Well, they are gross revolting AND they are angry revolting. My silly broken leg was all swollen last night. From the break site all the way down to my toes. Weird, because it didn't even hurt. But I followed the directions of a fellow blogger and kick ass runner Kim and after I did my lower body weights and rode the bike at the gym, I put an ice pack on it and elevated it last night. Sometimes I feel like I'm just flailing around, trying to learn how to run and get fit, but this blogging thing? Once again, it's proving to be an amazing resource for just about anything I attempt. Wahoo! Yeah Internet! Then, I mastered the grill! I've always been kind of afraid of the big gas grill in the backyard. But I had some asparagus and I wanted to grill it. I didn't want to steam it. I tried and tried to get it to light. I know the starter is broken because I've watched Gay Boyfriend light it many times before, but I just wasn't getting it. So, I hollered in the window at him and asked for help. And he obliged. I had the whole turning on the burner and sticking the lighter under there, but I was missing the vital component of actually turning on the propane. I.Am.Smart.

And it was possibly the best asparagus I've ever had, sprinkled with parmesan and served with fried romas. Spring has sprung! Happy weekend, everyone. Barring torrential downpours, I am going to get the garden in on Sunday. I'm sure there will be pictures.

Whoa whoa whoa - you broke your leg?

I missed something! Is this an old injury flaring up?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Yes! I broke my leg in Febraury of 2005. I have a rod that goes all the way from my knee to my ankle and bolts in my knee and ankle holding it in place. It was a bad, bad break. And that was my excuse for gaining 50 lbs.

How is your leg feeling now? I hope it responded to you pampering it last night, silly leg.

That asparagus sounds supper yummy. A. leaves this afternoon for 9 days, and I never grill without him. Because I can't figure out the grill! I will give it a go, as soon as it warms up past 30 effing degrees and the 45 mph winds cut it out. I will try to remember the propane!

Happy Gardening!

Ouch on the leg and YUM on the grilled asparagus - one of my favorite preparations. Now that you're lifting weights you're going to have to make sure you add some protein to your meals - a piece of chicken or fish would do nicely.

Just thinking, could the swelling have been caused by the repetitious knee movement of cycling?

old injuries are SO weird. they flare up when you least expect them to.

that dinner looks amazing. i tried some new stuff myself last night. whole wheat pasta, black beans, spinach, and garlic olive oil. it was surprisingly good!

Yum. The asparagus looks so good!

How is your leg feeling? I didn't realize you had a rod in it! I am happy to see a towel under that ice pack ;)

Glad you mastered the grill! Love asparagus done that way - yours looks great!!!

My son broke his wrist years ago - has two plates and tons of screws in it and it still bothers him sometimes - especially when the weather changes. I feel bad for both of you - not fun at all.

The internet makes everything better -- even hurt legs. Your legs will get stronger, they're getting stronger. And I love your hair. Can you print me out that picture so I can put it up in my cubicle?
