Up and Down. Up and Down.

Dig out your bomb shelters. Squander your inheritance. Go visit a place you've always wanted to see. Hug your children tightly, people. The world is coming to an end.

And since we were jabbering on so much, we went for 45 minutes instead of 30 minutes. But here's the best part. I met Dancing Queen at the park downtown to walk the bike trail and JUST as we stepped onto the trail? The WHOLE place lit up with Christmas lights. Right at 5:30! They were testing it for Winter Wonderland that happens the night after Thanksgiving. And we got the preview! I'd say that was a pretty awesome treat for partaking of the first "real" exercise I've gotten in over a month.

Either that or it was a sign from above.

Or something.

And I have to say, my mental health was improved for the whole time I was walking and about a half hour afterward. Then? My dad called me to talk about money stuff, and that? That just does not make me happy. So, spiral back down to reality and worry all night long about my finances. Does the man not know me by now? To know that I would lay awake all night fretting about our conversation? That sucked.

Yay for you for exercising. I wish I could get myself motivated enough to get moving.

Hey, even the temporary boost helps. Congrats.

I think the lights being lit JUST THEN is definitely some kind of sign. I love stuff like that!

Your bravery has inspired me. I wanted to tell you...your camping trip opened my eyes. This post...is such a REAL LIFE eternal spot. I love, love, love that the lights came on for YOU!!!!! I'm sorry about the fretting...this is a huge thing I've had to learn to manage within myself. Worry over money.

I am still so GLAD you enjoyed the exercise and lights. SO GLAD!

Well, just think where you would have been if you hadn't excersized and you got that call anyway!

It was definitely a special treat just designed for you. Seriously, the most wonderful things happen when you just do things. Like I tell my little leaguers, PUT THE BAT ON THE BALL, nothing good will happen if you don't PUT THE BAT ON THE BALL.

Well, anyway, glad you got some fix for your not-so-rightedness.

If they do Christmas Lights for a month (give or take) after Thanksgiving, I think you and Dancing Queen should make a date to walk with them many times a week. It does good for the soul!

It was a sign. To keep exercising!

Money stuff sucks. It just does.

i love how you realized how much better you were feeling after the walk. i always think that i don't want to do active things when i'm not feeling good...but it always seems to help out for some reason.

Hi Kate,

You know how dads are; hard to shift gears. Sometimes dads need to hear, "I know you mean well and you love me but that sucked."

We actually can be sensitive if you downshift for our behalf.

Still, you did good girl!

OMG. This means I'm going to have to start exercising. Maybe tonight. I wish you lived closer. We'd either be a motivation or a hindrance to each other. :)

Honey, you've handled much harder things than money. You'll work it out. Meanwhile, hold onto the friendship and the fresh air and the magic of the lights.

Oh, and I have to say, with that title, I was expecting a very different post. ;)

Exercising is always a good thing, no matter how you get it.

Glad to hear that you got a positive charge out of the Christmas lights.

Just keep thinking about that great picture whenever life throws you a small curve ball.

Oh, I love Christmas lights. Even when they're up "too early" (i.e. before Thanksgiving). I'm glad you exercised; I'm sorry you had a bring-down dad convo.
