Taming the Voices

I took your suggestions on layering for Saturday morning's wet and very chilly run. The hat and the gloves really helped! I was pretty comfy and the run was fantastic! So fantastic that I went to the gym later and did it again. That was a mistake for me. Because then Sunday's 10K training was horrible. My legs felt like lead. Ugh. I've been instructed to TAKE DAYS OFF. Ha! I told our trainer that it's not about the running, it's about taming The Crazy. Because running takes care of that right quick. But she said I'd have to come up with something else if I was going to make it. She's right. I know she's right. I'm still new. I have to remember that. But The Crazy! I finally found a way to make the voices stop. Sigh.
And then this happened. Gay Boyfriend was not amused. Also, I'm over here today! Go give my running club friends some kudos!

Running is hugely helpful for taming The Crazy - although I know you recognize it's not the only solution - and it's not the only place you get your help. When I was an Internet dating machine, I learned to avoid men who run marathon after marathon. Because they were invariably the men who really needed therapy, and were running like crazy instead. Not as well. Instead.

Running tames them huh? I've heard about running being addicting I see why.

Kate, glad to hear that you are running "lighter". I keep thinking that I'm running across hot coals. Keep it up!

Glad you are layering up - I saw a bunch of stuff that would work for you (shirts, vests, etc) at Target, for great prices.

Oh, and TAKE YOUR REST DAYS!!!

Kate,

I have some running attire for you. Gloves, a really good winter running coat. Very expensive. Hardly used. Would you like it? It would be an honor.

You are so athletic! You're an athlete! I love that word and someday I'd like to be one too.

Running helps calm the Crazy in all of us. But, your trainer is right, you do have to learn how to balance running with giving your body time to recuperate and get ready for the next time out!
