Various and Sundry

Just so you know, I broke out the high heeled black boots. They are my power shoes. Always. In fact, I'm wearing ALL power clothes today. I'm going to court with one of my clients this afternoon and that always kind of intimidates me. The gravity of the proceedings. So I'm wearing the things that make me feel intimidating myself. So take THAT, cute lawyer and domineering judge. You do not scare me!

I pretty much spent my weekend at the farm with Cowgirl. Her husband is gone hunting with Munchkin Number 1, so in order for her to get out and about, it takes quite a bit of work because she has to bring everyone along. Instead, we just go to her. Plus, she has a huge fireplace and the family room is SO sunny on cold but clear days. I think I played play doh for a good three hours. And we are reading a book about animal spirits. We're mostly sure that I am a dove, Cowgirl is a bluejay, and Dirty Ben is a badger. And since the UFC fights were on Saturday night, we had a little party out there and I promptly fell asleep in front of the fire with Munchkin Number 3 on my chest. Cowgirl sent us both to bed. Hahahaha. It was kind of sweet though. Because Munchkin Number 2 woke up around 7:30 a.m. and then I heard the baby squawking, so I went in and got him and the three of us putzed around for a couple hours, cuddling on the couch for a bit, making breakfast and a bottle, reading a few books. Cowgirl told me later, "That was like the best morning sleep I've had since the baby was born." See what a good friend I am? Ha!

I have not been cooking much lately. I am having trouble switching gears to winter fare. I miss all my fresh produce straight from the garden. But I might be coming around. I made fajita chicken last night to cut into salads for my lunches. Hard boiled eggs for breakfasts, etc. Was therapeutic as always and I made homemade blue cheese dressing. I've always wanted to try that. A salad is not a salad without blue cheese dressing. It's just how my taste buds work. I was having a horrible time finding a bottled dressing with no high fructose corn syrup, so I googled a billion recipes and made up my own. It is the best blue cheese dressing I've ever had.

1/2 c. blue cheese crumbles
6 oz. mayonnaise (I used the real kind)
1 T worchestershire sauce
1 T. dijon mustard
1 T. lemon juice
1 t. minced garlic

You're welcome.

Oh, worchestershire sauce in the dressing...I am sure that is the key.

Also, that word is hard to spell, even when you are looking at it.

I have a pair of power shoes. They are boots. Doc Martins. They make me feel 10 feet tall and as strong as Paul Bunion.

You are an amazing friend. I was reading this post thinking that I need someone who just hangs out around my house and plays with my kid. I miss having a friend like that. I used to have that friend and then I moved. Ugh.

That recipe looks ahmazing too!!

Just catching up on blogs. Took a bit of a computer break since Friday but somehow totally missed your happy feet post. So this is going to be a long-ass comment.

I think I'm the only runner in the whole wide world who doesn't care to try those shoes. I get a bit of barefoot running in on Muay Thai days, but of course it's on the flood pads. I just don't care about it. I know, I'm bad.

When I read the first paragraph of today's entry my first thought was "MAN! I need a whole power outfit like that. Badly." Because? Last week on a sort of job interview, the guy called me a "middle aged woman." I probably was dressed like one.

Oh, and I need a friend like you too. Only one who doesn't care if there are munchkins around 'cause I don't have any...

Your power outfit reminds me of my "don't F with me" outfit - everyone needs at least one outfit that makes them feel like a badass!

That bleu cheese dressing sounds good! I have gorgonzola on hand and I may just try it.

I want to try that blue cheese dressing!

These days I'd be happy to ship my youngest munchkin (he's ten) off to you. Do you do a boys camp by any chance?! I think I'm losing my mind over here...

Could be the boy or could be the dog I brought into the vet tonight. Five solid days of diarrhea. Ugh! He appears to be on the mend, thankfully.

Glad you had a great weekend. I hope your power shoes/outfit make you feel like a million bucks everytime you wear them!

You ARE a great friend! If you are ever in DC, would you come hang out with my kid for a bit while I take a nap?

Also, I bet you looked fabulous in your power outfit.
