Change

Internet? I am moving! I told Gay Boyfriend tonight. I was sick to my stomach to tell him. Mostly because I love him so much. We have four years of history together, and he has been my saving grace many nights of my early sobriety. But it's time. And I have a place. A two bedroom walk out basement apartment. All mine. New. All new. So new, that she asked me to go pick out paint colors. What?! I don't think I've ever lived in a place where I got to pick my colors. And I'm at a loss. I'm thinking chocolate brown for the living room and sage green for the kitchen, but the bedroom with the light? The office (second bedroom! Holy!) no idea. Darker and wrapping into warmness, or bright light for those dark winter nights? I don't know! I'm almost scared, I think.

This is a big change for me. The fact that Gay Boyfriend was not mad? Or pouty? So big. I was dreading telling him.

But now, I have to think about moving. Sorting. Storing. I refuse to move anything I don't want. Clothes. Books. Camping gear. Bedding. Kitchen crap. I have no idea. It's overwhelming.

But I want it. I do. I'm holding on to that. Right?

Maybe a peachy colour for the office? Something warm and light. I've wanted a burgundy bedroom for forever, but... I think it would just be too dark for you. Maybe a turquoise for the bedroom?

Glad that telling Gay Boyfriend wasn't too awful. Excited for you but know from my own experience how scary change can be. You can do eet!

He loves you. He wants good things for you.

And I would vote for bright bright bright! Happy and bright! Periwinkle feels very good to wake up in. Strong orange always makes me happy. Look at colors, see what makes you feel happy, and go with those. I think.

Yay for a new place all of your own! I love the idea of a chocolate brown in the living room- but do something light(er) in your bedroom. Maybe a light blue?

Is there a place for a garden?

Light light light. In every room. No darkness. It's not snuggly. It's depressing.

My friend V painted her ceilings the palest blue to remind her of the sky. I did that and painted my bedroom walls a pale yellow in my old house. It was my most favorite decoration decision.

How exciting!!! Chocolate sounds pretty but I might go a few shades lighter - your winters are just so long, I'd think you would need happy bright rooms, you know? So are you going to a paint store to check out colors? How fun! Love this. I already love your new landlord!

Yay! Congrats (again)! That is so cool. I'm excited for you! When does the big move happen? Sept 1?

My first instinct for the bedroom is a light blue - of some way, shape or form. I love the idea of chocolate brown - I'm a huge brown fan. And sage sounds wonderful for the kitchen. I'm also partial to yellow. I could paint practically every room yellow. So cheery on those long dark winter days!

Congrats! Such great news, Kate!

I suggest a coral pink color for the bedroom - such a happy, uplifting color!
